David Crausby, the Labour MP for Bolton North East, has launched a campaign to put a tax on chewing gum, in order to cover the costs of clearing the stuff off the pavements.

Nice idea! Strangely, it's exactly the same idea that the Liberal Democrats had back in 2005.
