Very interesting article, but I still maintain that if you don't introduce kids to sugar butties in the first place, they won't crave them.

If you don't introduce teenagers to Magners cider, they won't crave it.

That's one of the reasons why I'm not a parent. That way I don't have to listen to the incessant whining as I deprive them of the sugary treats that their peers enjoy.

In 2000AD comic sugar is outlawed, like heroin, I always thought that was very insightful. However - blood glucose imbalances can cause sugar cravings too. (this includes carbs as they are sugars too).
